Overview
Recently upgraded from windows 8 to 8.1 sucsessfully. ALL OK EXCEPT AN YELLOW EXCAMATION SYMBOL IS SHOWING IN DETERMINISTIC NETWORK ENHANCER MINIPORT DRIVER IN DEVICE MANAGER AND ON UNKNOWN DEVICE. I TRIED TO UPDATE BUT SHOWING 'INVALID INF'. It is not a Windows native service. There have been known compatibility issues with the DNE VPN driver under Windows XP. The DNE driver in your Cisco client may be outdated. Check whether the Cisco VPN client software has an updated version using a XP-certified DNE driver. DNE refers to the Deterministic Network shim used in 3rd party VPN clients. The Deterministic Network driver contains a privilege escalation vulnerability, which can allow a local attacker to execute code with kernel privileges. Description Deterministic Networks provides a product called Deterministic Network Enhancer ( DNE ), which extends the Microsoft Windows networking stack.

Description
Deterministic Networks provides a product called Deterministic Network Enhancer (DNE), which extends the Microsoft Windows networking stack. DNE is packaged with multiple applications, including the Cisco VPN Client. The DNE driver, which is provided by dne2000.sys, is vulnerable to privilege escalation. By making a certain ioctl to the DNE device driver, it is possible to execute code with windows kernel privileges. |

Apply an update This issue is addressed in dne2000.sys version 3.21.12.17902. This driver is available from the DNE support page. |
